Kindergarten- Miro (Dream Paintings)

Objectives:

· TLW name the primary and secondary colors

· TLW identify the works of Joan Miro

· TLW explain the differences between the work of Piet Mondrian, Jackson Pollock, and Joan Miro

· TLW create “Fantastic Dream Paintings” inspired by the works of Miro

· TLW practice various basic art room procedures

· TLW demonstrate each art room procedure

· TLW recall the 3 art room rules

Review Secondary Song/ Works of Mondrian/ Pollock

· Introduce Joan Miro- give background on the artist/ show slides of Mondrian+ Pollock to compare/ Miro working with dreams and fantasy/ art elements Miro was using

· What do you Dream – mini discussion: talk to the students of dreams they have had, how a dream might have made them feel, kinds of things they find in their dreams

· Drawing our dreams: have students create several drawings of dreams they have had- things in their dreams/ what happened/ who was in them- Students will pick one of these drawings to develop into their Final project.

· Students may begin drawing on the large sheet of paper when finished. They need to work slowly and lightly- covering the entire paper- Free drawing if finished

Paper, TV, computer, digital images, paint, paint cart, drying rack, black oil pastels

Misc:

Fantastic Dream Paintings”- Students will be exploring the fantastic realm of their own dreams in this project. Students will begin by first creating a few quick drawings of dreams on smaller paper. Once they decide which one to use, they will be given larger paper. Students will need to mix all 3 of the secondary colors. At least 4 colors must be used in their painting.
